Gibberellin is a kind of plant hormone with gibberellin alkane ring structure which can promote plant growth.It exists in both the dissociative and the associative forms.
Generally, there are at least two or more kinds of gibberellins in plants, and different gibberellins can be transformed into each other.
Leaves, buds, roots and young tissues of immature seeds are the main synthetic sites of gibberellin.
It can promote the elongation of stem, induce the flowering of long-day plants under the condition of short day, break the dormancy, promote fruit setting and unisexual growth, cell division and differentiation and other physiological effects.
The most significant effect of gibberellin is to promote tissue growth and increase plant height, especially for some heritable dwarf plants.
